To celebrate the launch of Mr and Mrs Smith vouchers for your wedding list, we’ve pulled together some of our most loved interior suppliers so you can recreate five-star style in your own homes, based on some of our favourite Mr and Mrs Smith hotels. Today it's all about Finca Serena in Mallorca, a small boutique hotel which used to be a farmhouse and is full of minimalist boho-chic charm. Calming, warming and inviting - it's a look we certainly would love to recreate in our own homes!
To achieve the effortlessly cool style of Finca Serena we have broken down the look into simple rules that you can apply to each room in your house. The interiors of this boutique hotel are luxurious, yet they also pay homage to the fact that it is in an old farmhouse. The interiors complement the design of the building and all have a paired back colour palette with a very tonal colour palette throughout. You'll find lots of natural textures and colours such as hemp, wood and straw. The muted tones exude calmess and tranquility and make you focus on the beautiful surrounding countryside. We're already feeling zen.
To recreate the interiors of Finca Serena at home in your bedroom – start with your bed. Upgrading your bed itself is a great option for your wedding list, as it is a present that could last a lifetime if you choose well. Feather and Black do some beautiful rattan or embroidered options which would work well for this farmhouse chic style. Compliment your new bed with some great quality bedlinen in white or a pale beige. Natural linen or cotton would work really well for this look. Then add a simple throw or quilt in a complimentary oatmeal, beige or taupe colour. Carry this colour into your scatter cushions to make the look feel paired back but considered.
When it comes to lighting your bedroom – you could consider textured hanging lights or ceramic black or metal lamps with a plain shade. For furniture Finca Serena focus on great quality wooden benches, chairs and bedside tables or very simple and modern black furniture. You can always soften this look with little furnishings such as rugs, baskets, photo frames and simple artwork.
If you would like to apply the style of Finca Serena’s interiors to your sitting room, consider where you can add the elements that you like. The interiors are often so paired back that it draws your eye to the beautiful nature outside the windows. Consider linen sofas and cushions with wooden and rattan furniture. When considering prints or artwork – consider prints with plants, trees or animals on to connect you to the nature of the surroundings.
To add a sense of a luxury to your bathroom that is always such a treat in a hotel, think about the little details that you might be missing and what you have that you would like to upgrade. For instance, could you add some prints or artwork to your bathroom to add some interest to your walls? Could you upgrade your mirror? Or are you missing some little touches such as a box for your jewellery? Baskets are a clever way to hide clutter and add softness to a room. And then of course, there's towels. Fluffy, oversized and a total luxury.
When it comes to incorporating this casual boho style into your dining room it is easy to follow the similar style rules throughout the hotel. For china, consider lovely neutral ceramics and stoneware. Costa Nova do some lovely options with very simple details. When it comes to table linen – try using linens in soft beige or whites. HIMLA is a great option for lovely, relaxed linens. Build up the look with rattan placemats and lots of wooden accessories such as bowls and chopping boards.
Building a wedding list is a great chance to add garden furniture to your list. It is a brilliant opportunity to add a great set of outdoor seating or dining sets. You can also have some fun with garden accessories such as pots, plants, parasols and lighting. To recreate the feel of a 5 star hotel think about all the luxury details that you love about a hotel, such as lanterns and beautiful serving trays for your sundowners.
