The personalised service from start to finish! We loved the whole process from our first meeting with Lucy in the wonderful showroom! The offer of free storage for such a long period also really appealed to us as we were planning a house move but didn't have a fixed date. Also, we loved that we could pick items from so many different brands as well as adding some custom products!
Some of our favourites were Legle Limoges, The Oak and Rope Company and Addison Ross. There are so many to choose from!
We love our dinner service set from Legle Limoges, an amazing present that will serve us for many years to come. It's a really special wedding present. Our Susan Rose personalised jug is really special, as it has our order of service printed on it which includes a beautiful drawing of our Church, drawn by our best friend.
Yes. Our delivery day was amazing - it was like ten Christmases in one!
The worst kept secret in history! We LOVE Christmas and got engaged on Christmas Eve in our flat - the ring was one of the gifts Fergus gave me in his family's traditional "Christmas Eve box". It was quite obvious the day Fergus went engagement ring shopping - he went shopping for hours, came back VERY excited with no bags and my best friend just happened to be in London that day! Then he accidentally let slip he had been speaking to my Dad on the phone and told me we HAD to go back to Edinburgh between Christmas and New Year in case we had 'something to celebrate'! Other family members including my mum, Fergus' mum and Fergus' sister also contributed to the lack of subtlety so I sat at work waiting to leave at 5pm on Christmas Eve telling my colleagues I thought I was about to be proposed to!
We weren't really keen on having a fixed 'theme' as such... we just wanted to enjoy having all of our favourite people in one place! Our wedding was in mid December so we had a few festive touches, including table names of The 12 Days of Christmas and beautiful winter white flowers.
My mum and dad, (especially my mum, who we nicknamed Fronc from Father of the Bride) were absolutely amazing in terms of how much they did of the organisation of the wedding. We couldn't have done it without them and are eternally grateful.
We knew we wanted to get married in Edinburgh where we both grew up (long before we met each other) and getting married in Canongate Kirk and Signet Library on the Royal Mile was amazing!
The amazing team at Planet Flowers managed to somehow create a beautiful winter white floral theme from two of the least creative people on the planet!
My Dress & Veil were from The Mews, Notting Hill. I chose a beautiful dress by Rime Arodakay. My shoes were ivory court shoes from Marks & Spencer, with some incredible hand painting by my amazing maid of honour. I accessorised with a diamond bracelet which used to be my mum's and a Hermione Harbutt cuff and headpiece. My earrings were from Stern's South Africa. I was really hoping to have some earrings with the infinity sign in them somewhere, I found these online and luckily my lovely cousin was living in South Africa at the time!
Hair - Wilma at WHM Hairdressing
Make up - Susie Clark beauty
Fergus' morning suit was by Victor Getzels
His waistcoat was by Ede & Ravenscroft
My bridesmaids all wore mix and match dresses by Motee Maids
Our flower girl's dress was from Rachel Riley with a Motee Maids sash
Our photographer was First Light Photography. Our videographer was Bowery Productions, who was absolutely amazing. We cherish our wedding video. We had so much fun with both of them; they really understood us and captured the essence of our day so well. We all burst out laughing when my bouquet was swept up in the wind on Arthur's Seat!
Callanish Ceilidh Band
Our first dance was a Charleston to Fat Sam's Grand Slam
Our wedding cake was by Fay's Cakes. We immediately wanted to eat some and as a result our tongues were blue for most of the evening!
Standing at the top of Arthur's Seat in gale force winds for photos
Fergus' uncle's pipe band piping our guests from the church to the wedding
The laughs of our first dance - singing The 12 days of Christmas - each table was a day which was great fun.
Don't worry about the small things! As we kept saying, no one's going to leave thinking the napkins are the wrong colour!
