At The Wedding Present Company, we believe in building a wedding list of presents that you will love and use for years to come. We don't rely or religiously follow interior trends, but we love looking at emerging trends that will become timeless and remain forever stylish. We use these to recommend great quality wedding present ideas that will adapt to different rooms or schemes for years to come. We love interpreting the current trends in our way, so below we have curated an edit of wedding presents that fit into our favourite interior trends of 2021, that resonate with us and translate into timeless wedding presents that you will love for a lifetime.
The events of the last year has seen a rise in everyone wanting to create that cosy feeling you get from a rustic cottage or country farmhouse wherever you may be. This is a look that we have always loved and is the perfect definition of a timeless interior trend. Our friends at House and Garden sum this trend up perfectly, that it is for people who love "their modern home comforts but wants to inject some character details into their living spaces, too". Even if you're in a small apartment in London, there are simple ways to recreate the feeling of a cosy cottage with the introduction of tonal colours and soft textures. Bonus points if your home already has some existing original features! If you are interested in adding this look into your home, focus on textures such as wood, wicker and lots of throws, blankets and quilts.
It is no secret that the team at The Wedding Present Company love a cocktail or two (are you following us on Instagram for our weekly lockdown Quarantinis?). We love making cocktails, so the ongoing trend for a drinks trolley is one we are very much in support of! Our advice is that whilst they can be really fun to style, it is also important to fill your drinks trolley with the practical elements to make a cocktail. Include cocktail accessories such as muddlers, ice buckets and tongs so you have everything you need in one place. This is a statement piece for your home and it makes a great wedding present. A drinks trolley could be a great option to use our 'Group Gift' option, whereby a group of your guests could all contribute towards it. And remember, you don't have to use a drinks trolley for drinks! It can become a handy, portable table for any room in the house!
Yes, this isn't exactly a new trend but it's one that we love and one that isn't going anywhere. Scallop details translate so well into homewares. They add such a pretty detail and add a pop of colour to a room or to a tablescape. Whether you add scalloped bed linen, table linen or a small detail on a decorative item - it is a very pretty and feminine detail. Our go-tos for scalloped bed linen are SARAH K and Sophie Conran, perfect if you are looking for predominantly white sheets with a simple detail and pop of colour.
Not so much a trend, but something that we should all be focusing on is environmentally friendly wedding presents and brands that operate with sustainability at the core of their business. This is trend that is here to stay. At The Wedding Present Company, we are commited to sourcing products and brands that have sustainability at the heart of their set up/ Some of our favourite brands are Rise and Fall bedlinen, Kalinko homewares, Wonkiware china, Weaver Green soft furnishings and Artisanne woven homewares. There is nothing nicer than adding wedding presents to your wedding gift list that are made responsibly with eco friendly materials. If you want to know more detail about any of these amazing brands and what they are doing, give us a call. We will happily wax lyrical about them all day!
Last year we were delighted to launch a partnership with Mr and Mrs Smith Hotels, meaning you can now add vouchers for their hotels to your wedding list. It is the ultimate treat for your wedding gift list. As all of our travel plans have been put on hold over the last year, we're seeing a huge trend for couples wanting to recreate that luxury hotel feel of their favourite hotels at home. Whether that is making your bedroom more of a sanctuary, or adding some spoling touches to your bathroom, there are simple ways to elevate your space and make it feel really indulgent. Think about your favourite hotels and all the small details that you remember from them and see if you can make small tweaks or additions to your home based on those memories. Mood lighting is a great way to recreate that hotel soft lighting that is so relaxing and calming, so perhaps consider adding some floor lights and lamps to your wedding list.
We have seen a spike in couples adding garden related wedding presents to their wedding gift list over the last year. Whether you have a small balcony or a large garden there are so many ways you can transform you space. With outdoor entertaining more popular than ever (all year round!) we have a great range of BBQs and firepits. Don't forget outdoor seating - from bistro chairs, to teak benches to portable deckchairs. All brilliant wedding presents that you will love for a lifetime. We also have an extensive range of wedding presents to enhance your outdoor space you do have so that you can make the most of it. Think mirrors, planters, pots, outdoor rugs, outdoor lights and a enviable selection of garden tools for the keen gardeners amongst us.
Earth tones are a calming trend set to make a big mark on 2021 interiors. Muted, tonal and reminding us of nature, it's impossible to not feel relaxed and calm when surrounded by these colours. Think rich greens, chalky whites, and earthy reds and rusty oranges. These can all be quite muted tones but rich in depth and colour. Texture also plays a big part of this trend; rattan, wood, wool and sheepskin ground your interiors against these lovely tonal colours in a room.
Intricate detail is, in our eyes, a timeless trend. Artisinal touches, bespoke or unique features or one-of-a-kind items - something that will make your wedding presents truly memorable. When building your wedding list, consider those extra details that might make a room extra-special. This could include silverware, antiques or one-off artisinal pieces. Those special pieces that you will cherish forever and that are unique to you as a couple, and most importantly something that has special meaning to you.
Similar to the relaxing effect of Earth Tones, Ocean Hues are set to be a big colour trend for 2021 thanks to their calming and relaxing impact. Think rich, deep, luxurious hues that can either add pops of colour to a neutral room scheme or make a statement with complete colour takeover! Encorporate the varying colours of the ocean into your colour scheme from deep inky indigos, aquamarines and sky blues all contribute to the feeling of tranquility in a room.
