WPC Real Wedding: Edwina and Edward's Intimate Christmas Wedding

Welcome to the beautiful wedding of real WPC couple Edwina and Edward; a stunning Christmas wedding for 15 guests held in December 2020. Join us as luxury jewellery designer, Edwina, talks us through how the couple changed their plans from a 200 guest marquee wedding to just 15, to abide by covid-guidelines. Wonderfully intimate, full of love and full of incredible wedding suppliers all working together to adapt, this real wedding is a brilliant example of how magical an intimate wedding can be. Edwina shares her formidable team of wedding suppliers (expertly lead by Anna Wills of ARC Events) and picks out their favourite wedding presents from their bespoke wedding list with The Wedding Present Company. So, grab a cup of tea and settle into this one, it's a goodie.

Engagement Story

Edward and Edwina wit their dog.

Ed's parents live in a house surrounded by beautiful hills, one of which we walk up all the time, its our favourite spot, the place we love the most in the world as you can see for miles. Once we got to the top and sat down he proposed with our dog jumping around us. My favourite thing is that we can return to the spot all the time and relive the happiness.

What were your original plans for your wedding?

Edward carrying Edwina for a photograph outside.

We originally planned for 220 people in a marquee at my parent's house in Hampshire.

How did you have to adapt your wedding to be in line with Covid restrictions?

Edwina, Edward and their wedding planner Anna Willis.

Very luckily, we had our amazing wedding planner Anna Wills of ARC Events to help us through the year, she was our pilar of strength. Anna was incredible and planned us the 220 people wedding, then the 30 and finally the 15 person wedding, her attention to detail never changed and she went above and beyond to make the day extra special for us. Due to the amount of people or lack thereof we had to say goodbye to the marquee and opted to have the reception in the house, which was perfect for December, along with feeling very special as this was where I grew up. The other details stayed the same, unbelievably we managed to stick to the same date, we kept the same menu, bridesmaid dresses, flower inspiration and photographer. All of these elements made the day so unique I wouldn't have changed a thing.8gf c

Location

My parent's house in Hampshire - where I grew up. It was very special getting ready at home and having our wedding there.

Décor and Flowers

Wild About Flowers did our beautiful flowers, they were fantastic and really understood our colourful winter vision. Their amazing team put together mood boards for us to see and approve, and worked tirelessly to ensure they looked fantastic on the day. They even surprised us with bouquets and flower hair clips for the flower girls.

Bridal Fashion

Eponine London created my bespoke silk wedding dress. I had always loved Eponine's designs and shapes and knew I wanted them to create my dress. Jet and her team were fantastic, friendly, highly efficient (covid was not going to stop them delivering my dress) and incredibly talented. My dress was tailored to perfection and every fitting I fell more and more in love with it. The experience was a dream, I felt relaxed and confident all the way through

Hair & Make Up

Stephie Hoyle did my hair and makeup, having seen her do both of my sister in laws wedding I already knew she was brilliant. She really does work wonders, I was over the moon with my hair and make up, and was grateful for her calming influence when the morning chaos was going on.

Bridesmaids, Flower Girls & Page Boys Fashion

The flower girls wore little navy dresses with a little white frill at the neck and at the wrists.

Little Bevan created our stunning bespoke pageboy jacket and flower girl dresses. I had a clear vision of what I wanted them to look like and they were amazing at bringing them to life. They were also super wonderful and did them with quite a short deadline!

Caterer

The Essential Party Ingredient did our catering. Despite the reduction in numbers, we still went ahead with our original menu and it was mouth wateringly delicious. They were amazing at adapting to working in different kitchens and their staff were so helpful and smiley.

Sophie Cabot made our beautiful wedding cake, all of the flowers on the cake were made out of sugar which is so special as we have been able to keep them.

Photographer & Videographer

Hugo Burnand was our wedding photographer, which we were super excited about as he is an incredibly talented photographer. We are over the moon with our pictures, they are the perfect illustration of the day as he manged to capture the happiness, magic and fun we and everyone else had.

Our wedding videographer was Will Fielding who did an exceptional job, I barely realised he was there filming yet he got all the special moments in a stunning way. I get tingles every time I watch our video and had it on constant repeat for the first couple of days after receiving it..

Did you live stream any of your wedding for guests that weren't able to attend?

We didn't stream the wedding as the wifi in the church was terrible! Instead we are going to send our wedding video to everyone that couldn't attend.

- I asked if I could kiss Ed in the church too early and the Priest announced it which made everyone laugh.

Top tips to couples currently navigating wedding planning?

Edward lifting up Edwina in front of the fire.

Size doesn't matter, stick to your date if you can! Try and focus on the fact you are getting married which is the happiest and most important part. I'm so glad that we stubbornly stuck to our original date as it was every bit as special as I imagined it.
