Last year to celebrate World Environment Day, we pledged to go plastic free in 2020. It feels fitting to announce on Earth Day, that we have hit our target and our packaging is now fully plastic free and fully recyclable. Read on to find out more, and see the other ways we have made our business more sustainable and responsible and enjoy a round up of some of our favourite sustainable wedding presents.
Your wedding presents are delivered to you in beautiful branded cardboard boxes. We have worked with our supplier to make these fully recyclable. They are brilliantly strong, so you can either recycle them by reusing them, or pop them in your recycling bin. You might find the odd box comes with a 'Please Excuse My Appearance' sticker. This means that we have recycled this box, deeming it in a good enough condition to be reused for your delivery.
All of our plastic bubble wrap has been replaced with strong biodegradable kraft paper. We run the paper through a dedicated machine to 'scrunch' it, making it a highly effective shock absorber, designed to reduce the potential damage of any presents during transit.
All our plastic tape has been replaced with reinforced gummer paper tape. Not only is this super strong, it is 100% recyclable.
For certain London delivery addresses, we offer a complimentary recycling scheme. Once you have unpacked all your lovely wedding presents, our in-house drivers will come back and collect your packaging and recycle it on your behalf. If your address falls within the catchment area, you will be handed a recycling card with your delivery letting you know how the scheme works.
Our infamous Sweatpea and Peony scented candles used to come wrapped in cellophane. We have worked with our supplier to repace this cellophane with a beautiful cardboard box in our new signature green that is 100% recyclable.
We will continue to improve our delivery infrastructure to ensure the most efficient delivery system, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.
We launched Green Friday in place of Black Friday. For every registration we received over Black Friday weekend, we planted a tree via Trees for Cities.
We would love to hear from you with any other ideas you have as to how we can continue to improve our efforts – this is an evolving journey and we are 100% committed to doing our best, there is no Planet B afterall.
