Welcome to Real Wedding Inspiration, where we collect and curate beautiful wedding stories. We invite Wedding Present Company couples to share favourite moments from their special day — and we have stunning photos of every last detail.
At her family home in Hampshire, with a marquee that looked as though the garden had simply grown its way inside, dogs underfoot and dancing that went on longer than anyone planned, Honour Wainwright and Charlie Coleman's summer wedding was exactly what they had in mind.
As Director of Marketing at the luxury jeweller Boodles, Honour brought an eye for detail and a clear sense of what she wanted to the planning process. "We wanted it to feel personal and really relaxed," she says. To build their wedding gift list, Honour and Charlie turned to The Wedding Present Company, whose showroom appointment became one of the most enjoyable afternoons of their planning journey.

Engagement Story
But rewind to where it all began. Honour Wainwright's engagement story is one of those proposals all the more perfect for being entirely unplanned, at least on her side. It happened in Thurlestone, Devon, on a clifftop overlooking the sea. The whole family knew except her, and when Charlie finally steered her toward the view, she had been angling for the nearest beach to get the cold dip over with quickly. He had been carrying the ring since 11am. Getting her out the door took until 5:30pm. "I was completely unprepared. No makeup, messy hair, nails that were far from prepped. It was perfect because it felt totally like me." The ring was an Ashoka-cut diamond, Boodles' exclusive 62-facet cut, chosen with the quiet guidance of her brother and father over covert coffee shop meetings. "He absolutely nailed it," she says.
Wedding Planning
Honour and Charlie were hands-on throughout, with brilliant support from Honour's mother and their wedding planner Katie Tottenham, who also happens to be her best friend's mum. The couple wanted everything to feel personal and relaxed, with vegetables from the kitchen garden, dogs roaming freely and nothing too formal. "Mum and I keep saying we want it to be more Kate Moss than Kate Middleton vibes," Honour laughs. A church ceremony, a marquee in the garden, a Day 2 pool party and BBQ.

Working through the wedding planning checklist, Honour's approach to finding suppliers stayed consistent: recommendations, Instagram and Pinterest research and gut instinct. Almost without planning it, the vast majority of the team ended up being independent, female-founded businesses, from florist to photographers to cake maker and shoe designer. "We had the most amazing team on the wedding weekend," she says.

"We thought [building a wedding registry] might feel like a bit of a 'tick box' part of wedding planning, but it ended up being one of the nicest bits, just the two of us choosing things we genuinely loved and would actually use."
The Wedding Present Company Experience
"We thought that creating a wedding gift list might feel like a bit of a 'tick box' part of wedding planning, but it ended up being one of the nicest bits, just the two of us choosing things we genuinely loved and would actually use." "I really recommend booking an appointment at The Wedding Present Company showroom. It made such a difference being able to see and feel everything in person, especially things like tableware and linens that are quite hard to judge online. It also helped us be a bit braver with our choices and mix brands we might not have thought to pair together. It was also such a fun experience going round the showroom scanning things, with a glass of Nyetimber in hand!"
Being able to add pieces from brands not already carried by The Wedding Present Company gave Honour real freedom. "I love Rebecca Udall and I discovered lots of new brands whilst browsing too, which is always fun." Among the best wedding gift ideas received were pieces from Amuse La Bouche and Anna + Nina. Honour and Charlie enjoyed the flexibility their wedding gift list offered too. "After the wedding, we were working closely with The Wedding Present Company team, adjusting our list ever so slightly so our presents work with our new house. Don't tell any of our guests though!"

Wedding Venue
After the wedding ceremony in a local church, the reception was held in a marquee at Honour's family home in Hampshire. If you are planning a marquee wedding, take a leaf from Honour's book. "We got married at my family home, where I've grown up, which made it incredibly special. The run-up was one of the most fun parts. Plants and flowers arriving left, right and centre, and our local friends rallying together to help clean the church the week before. It felt like a real team effort."
Charlie's family came over the day before to help with final preparations. The bridesmaids arrived in the afternoon, ahead of the rehearsal and a quiet supper together. Honour enforced a strict 10:30pm lights-out, though she admits she is not entirely convinced Charlie held his ushers to the same rule.

Bridal Outfit & Accessories
Honour worked with designer Ella May, recommended by a friend. "I knew I wanted something that felt very 'me', laid-back and unfussy, but still elegant and fun. The whole process felt incredibly collaborative, like designing something with a friend rather than anything too formal or intimidating." The dress was ivory silk satin with a silk chiffon skirt overlay and a structured, corseted bodice, with hand-cut lace daisies placed throughout. For the church, she wore a fitted tulle overlay with a scalloped back and fluted cuffs, which came off after the ceremony. "Switching was such fun, it felt like stepping into a whole new look, ready for the party."

The shoes were bespoke slingbacks designed with Florrie London. "We mixed her signature touches with delicate lace from Ella May's library so they tied in perfectly with my dress. Charlie's and my names and our wedding date were embroidered on the outside, which was super special. I also loved that both Florrie and Ella May are small, female-founded businesses."

Having grown up around jewellery, Honour chose earrings from Boodles' Peace of Mined collection for her wedding ceremony, as the stones traced from the Cullinan Mine in South Africa, a place she had visited with her parents. For the evening, an Ashoka diamond line necklace, bracelet and huggie earrings that caught the light on the dancefloor, matching her engagement ring. Her ring and wedding band carry a secret engraving that only she and Charlie know.

Wedding Hair & Make-Up
Hair and make-up was handled by the Strictly Come Dancing team, a connection made through her mother-in-law, tennis legend Annabel Croft, with hair by Andrea Lewis Hair and Make-Up and make-up by Kate Lockwood. "The Strictly Come Dancing team doing my hair and makeup was such a treat. I can only imagine that doing bridal makeup was a bit of a change of pace from glitter, fake tans, and sequins. I suspect my brief was one of their more low-key days at the office."

Groom’s Style
Charlie wore his trusty morning suit, a gift from his 21st birthday, alongside a new waistcoat and houndstooth trousers from Sirplus and George Cleverley shoes. He, Honour's father and all the ushers wore matching Percival ties.

Bridesmaids, Page Boys & Flower Girls Fashion
Honour chose not to have a traditional bridal party, but her closest girlfriends spent the night before with her and got ready together on the morning. She gave each of them a Be Boodles bracelet to keep, "a little something personal to tie us all together throughout the day and beyond."

The children's outfits carried a more personal story. Sailing was woven through the day as a tribute to Charlie's late father Mel, a well-known yachtsman, so the pageboys wore little sailor outfits, while the flower girls wore beautiful matching dresses made especially for the occasion by a talented seamstress.
Wedding Flowers & Décor
The flowers were by Millie Richardson. "Millie is the most incredible florist I've ever come across, and I've worked with my fair share through work," says Honour. The brief was simple: everything should feel as though it had just been picked from the garden that morning, very natural, very whimsical, slightly unstructured. "She completely understood the brief and absolutely nailed it."

The church entrance was framed by a sweeping arch of trailing greenery, rosehips and dahlias in deep raspberry and burnt orange, spilling down the stone steps as though the garden had grown over the doorway overnight. Inside, floor-to-ceiling installations of cascading foliage and cream roses framed the altar, lit by the stained glass window behind.

"Millie completely transformed the marquee and set the tone for the evening," says Honour. Greenery trailed from every wooden beam, terracotta taper candles flickered alongside cosmos in bud vases, and at each place setting, a personalised Lucca Studios tambourine bore the guest's name, doubling as a wedding seating plan and a wedding gift for guests to take home. "At one point in the night, everyone was up on their chairs, tambourines in hand, dancing away. It was one of my favourite memories of the whole weekend."

Wedding Catering
"Our catering was handled by Quince and Clover, who were absolutely fantastic. We had canapés on arrival, followed by sharing mezze-style starters, then a sit-down main course of beef, and finished with pudding canapés which were going round whilst everyone started dancing. They even incorporated vegetables from Dad's veggie garden into the menu, which made it feel extra special. Guests are still raving about it."

Day 2 was a pool party and BBQ outdoors under festoon lights, and it was that afternoon the wedding cake was finally cut. Henny's Hot Bakes created a three-tier ivory cake decorated with hand-painted wildflowers and pressed botanicals. "Henny created a bespoke cake combining my love of carrot and Charlie's obsession with pistachio. We actually cut the wedding cake on Day 2, which made the day feel extra special, dragging out the celebrations as long as possible."

Wedding Music & Entertainment
Walking out of the church, the couple were greeted by The Roaming Brothers from the House of Lemon. Honour's friends had been handed the bubble machines and committed to the task rather too enthusiastically. "They got so carried away that bubbles were everywhere all weekend, creating some epic photos."

Charlie's choice of 'You're the One That I Want' from Grease as the couple's first wedding song got the evening off to exactly the right start. LDN Showband kept everyone on the dancefloor, and on Sunday Truly Medley Deeply took over. "Honestly the best band I've ever heard," says Honour. "They blend the greatest pop hits from every era into seamless medleys, and they were so amazing that we kept extending their set because no one wanted them to stop."
Wedding Highlights
For Honour and Charlie, the most memorable moments were the ones rooted in personal history. Having her oldest friend Yasmin sing during the signing of the register was one that stayed with her.
So was stepping outside the church to find a vintage Land Rover waiting, secretly decorated by her closest friends that morning. "My best friends went all out, attaching golf clubs and tennis rackets to the back, a lovely nod to Charlie's obsession with golf and his mum's tennis career, covering it in flowers, and even adding a personalised 'The Colemans' number plate. Seeing it waiting for us as we left the church was such an amazing surprise. So many guests commented that they spotted golf clubs and tennis rackets on the road, which had fallen off, on the way back to my house. It was like a follow the breadcrumbs trail to the party."

The tambourine moment, the entire room up on their chairs, was another. And late into the night, Charlie's mother Annabel Croft was spotted crowd-surfing with her new daughter-in-law.
A Last Piece of Wedding Planning Advice...
When asked for her one piece of advice for engaged couples, Honour's answer is short. "Enjoy it, it all goes in a flash!"
