REED has the flax shortage of the 1970s to thank for the creation of Hem Stitch bed linen when The Savoy asked Reed Family Linen to design a cotton-based alternative to their traditional linens. A clever combination of cotton warp yarns and 100% linen weft threads gives the feel of pure linen, yet it is much easier to iron and more crease-resistant.
