London’s wedding venue offering is as diverse as the city itself, spanning everything from historic country house hotels and elegant town halls to characterful pubs and hidden walled gardens. The sheer breadth of choice means couples can shape a celebration around almost any aesthetic or mood. "London is overflowing with wedding venues,"William Bartholomew, one of the country’s leading wedding planners, tells us. ‘People get married (or hold their celebrations) anywhere, from a museum to a town hall, luxurious hotel or dedicated wedding venue. There are also so many lovely and historic churches.’
While the idea of getting married in London may point to grand city-centre hotels and historic town halls, the city's sheer scale means green space and countryside-like settings are far more accessible than most couples expect. "The beauty of London being so large is you can also get countryside-like venues by looking slightly further afield," Matthew Shaw, founder of premium events company Sauver, told us. ‘London is home to some beautiful parks, reservoirs, and stately homes - it can offer you almost everything, from a grand ballroom to a wedding marquee in the grounds of a royal estate.’ London also has excellent transport links, so it's generally easy for guests to get to the venue, and there's no shortage of places to stay nearby, unlike in the case of many sleepy countryside villages. More intimate registry office weddings are also popular in London thanks to its wealth of town halls.
With so many options, though, the choice of London wedding venues has the potential to overwhelm. We've hand-picked the best London wedding venues in the city centre and south, east, west and north boroughs. A caveat: we couldn't include each beautiful wedding venue in the capital, but these are some of our - and a wedding planner's - favourites.

Best London wedding venues
From impressive stately homes to chic hotels and atmospheric restaurants, these are some of the best London wedding venues for your special day. The city also rewards couples who look beyond the obvious - from museums and galleries to old music halls, there's a venue for almost every vision. "London's rich culture and history make it easy to find the perfect wedding venue for most couples, whatever the faith,’ Bartholomew tells us. ‘Unusual non-secular venues have been a huge success with our clients. For example, the British Museum and art galleries like the Saatchi Gallery. Any place you can get creative with unusual architecture inside a building will make the day as memorable as possible."

1. The Connaught, Mayfair
The Connaught has long been considered one of London's most quietly distinguished hotels, and its wedding offering is no exception. It manages to feel both impeccably formal and genuinely warm, and that combination is what makes it so well-suited to the occasion. Set in the heart of Mayfair, its Edwardian architecture gives way to interiors that feel stately and welcoming in equal measure - the kind of place where guests arrive on best behaviour and leave having made friends with strangers. The Connaught Room seats up to 100 for a formal breakfast, with the option to extend celebrations into the hotel's private bar. For couples who want elegance with real heart, it's hard to top.

Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant, trading from No.3 St James's Street since 1698, Berry Bros. & Rudd offers one of the most characterful small wedding venues in London. The Georgian cellars beneath the shop stretch under the streets of St James's and can be hired for intimate celebrations, with exposed brick, candlelight and some of the finest wine in the country on hand.

3. Dartmouth House, Mayfair
Few wedding venues in London carry the formal elegance of Dartmouth House while remaining as genuinely versatile. This Georgian mansion, reminiscent of a French Château, was built in the 18th century as a family residence and later served as a military Red Cross hospital during the First World War. The outdoor courtyard is perfect for summer weddings, and the original features, including an ornate ceiling painted by Pierre-Victor Galland and a grand marble staircase, make every corner of the house feel like a backdrop worth using. "Dartmouth House is classically designed and highly versatile, with many spaces for gatherings of different sizes," Goodman tells us. "Truly magical."

4. The Savoy, Charing Cross
When it comes to the grand London hotel wedding, The Savoy sets the benchmark. There are other exceptional options, including The Dorchester, The Corinthia, The Ritz, and Claridge's are all London institutions, but The Savoy's Art Deco spaces invite a wedding reception with a distinct point of view, one inspired by the glamour of the 1920s. Located on The Strand, it's the quintessential elegant city centre wedding venue.

5. Balfour St Barts, Farringdon
Balfour St Barts is one of the most compelling answers to the question of what a contemporary city wedding venue should look like. A former bank renovated into a brewery with views across Smithfield Market, the venue has a mezzanine level for a stylish reception and a fully seated dinner option for up to 220, making it a strong choice for larger weddings that want character alongside scale.

6. The Ned, Bank
The Ned offers a modern twist on the classic London hotel wedding. Housed inside the former Midland Bank headquarters, the hotel was designed in 2017 and brings a modern interpretation of luxury to the building's original features. "A London classic right in the heart of Bank," says Goodman. "It oozes class and decadence."

7. Banqueting House, Whitehall
For couples who want a venue with genuine historical gravitas, where the story of the building is as compelling as the setting itself, Banqueting House stands alone. The only surviving section of the Palace of Whitehall, it was designed by Inigo Jones and completed in 1622, and its Main Hall features the only in-situ ceiling painting by Peter Paul Rubens. You will struggle to find a more extraordinary setting in the city than this.

8. The NoMad Hotel, Covent Garden
The NoMad has established itself as one of London's most design-forward hotel wedding venues. The jaw-dropping dining room with wrap-around balconies and dramatic hanging lights is the centrepiece, but Side Hustle, an excellent Latin American cocktail bar set in the former Bow Street Police Station, and a cosy library both work well for drinks receptions. "It screams understated luxury and elegance," says Goodman. "You also have Covent Garden, the Palace of Westminster and the Royal Opera House all on the doorstep for photos."

9. Kensington Palace, Kensington
Few London wedding venues can match the romance of a royal palace, and Kensington Palace, still a working royal residence, is among the most sought-after in the city. You can hire the State Apartments for an evening reception, surrounded by world-class artworks and 17th-century interiors, with views across the immaculate palace gardens. Availability is understandably limited, which only adds to the appeal.

10. Old Marylebone Town Hall
As far as London town halls go, Old Marylebone Town Hall is perhaps the most impressive. London wedding planner Lauren Goodman of Bluebird Studios counts it among the best wedding venues in London, telling us: "Marylebone Town Hall is iconic, one of the best registry offices in London, synonymous with the chicest confetti throw in town. It's the perfect place for an intimate and stylish wedding."

11. The Barbican, City of London
The Barbican Conservatory is a hidden paradise within the brutalist building for couples who want to embrace nature without leaving the city. 13. Westminster Boating Base, Pimlico
Westminster Boating Base offers something genuinely rare in central London: a riverside wedding venue that's spacious, light-filled and entirely focused on the view. The pavilion in Pimlico has wall-to-wall views of the Thames and a dining space that works beautifully for a wedding reception. It also has a film connection worth mentioning: it's one of the venues used in Love Actually, where Keira Knightley's character Juliet celebrates her wedding to Peter (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) after they walk down the aisle at Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair. The waterfront views are a big draw, and the venue's position next to Pimlico Gardens makes it an ideal spot for pre-reception drinks in the summer months.

Wedding venues in South London
There is a huge range of hotels in South London, so we’ve split options into southeast and southwest postcodes. Southeast London ranges from SE1 to SE20 and includes the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lewisham, and Southwark. Greenwich offers picturesque waterside settings, with the grand surroundings of Woolwich Town Hall housing Greenwich Registry Office if opting for a registry office ceremony before a wedding reception in another venue. In southwest London areas like Richmond and Putney feel removed from the hectic city, with plenty of green space and cosy English pubs to choose from.

14. Horniman House and Gardens, Forest Hill
Horniman Conservatory at Horniman House & Gardens is one of those London wedding venues that genuinely delights people the moment they walk in. Nestled in the grounds of Horniman House, this beautiful example of Victorian architecture, with its geometric floor tiles, soaring glass ceiling and 16 acres of grounds to explore, feels like a step into an English countryside garden while remaining firmly within the city. Built by the Horniman family and now Grade II listed, it's a hidden gem that couples tend to fall a little in love with the moment they visit.

17. Brunel Museum, Rotherhithe
Brunel Museum is a wonderful choice for couples drawn to spaces with a strong sense of history and industrial character. Built in the 1800s by the legendary engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the museum now houses cultural exhibitions, its walls adorned with contemporary art and artefacts that give the space a personality entirely its own. It's the kind of venue where the setting does some of the entertaining, and guests leave with plenty to talk about.

18. Petersham Nurseries, Richmond
A world away from the hectic city centre, Petersham Nurseries is one of the most romantic wedding venues in London. The huge greenhouse that houses events is an elegant setting for a botanical wedding, already full of antique furniture, plants, foliage and fairy lights — wedding-ready before a single decoration is added. The setting may be rustic, but the food and wine offerings are genuinely refined, with a Michelin Green Star restaurant and some of London's leading sommeliers on hand to advise on wine selections.

19. The Railway, Putney
The Railway has enjoyed a recent refurbishment in 2023, meaning the Putney High Street wedding venue feels fresh and modern while retaining its period features. Originally a hotel built in 1886, this historic venue is known for hosting some British icons (including the band The Police) throughout its history. The layout spans three floors, with the light and airy middle room, flooded with natural light, making it a perfect space for a wedding ceremony.

20. Kew Gardens, Richmond
Kew Gardens offers more flexibility than almost any other outdoor wedding venue in London, with four distinct spaces across 320 acres on the banks of the Thames: Cambridge Cottage, the Nash Conservatory, the Orangery and the Princess of Wales Conservatory. The smallest venue, Cambridge Cottage suits smaller celebrations, accommodating up to 80 guests for a seated dinner or 120 for a standing reception, while the three conservatories each accommodate up to 200 in beautiful, light-filled settings. With over 30,000 species of plants and wildlife, it's a wonderful choice for nature lovers who want a venue within easy reach of the city.

For those planning a country pub wedding in London, The County Arms in Wandsworth is a traditional family-run pub with a beautiful lavender-filled garden in the summer. With a large conservatory for a drinks reception or wedding breakfast, situated a stone's throw from Wandsworth Common, it has a warmth that's hard to manufacture. For larger celebrations, a summer room and upper deck can be hired out to seat additional guests.

22. Chelsea Physic Garden, Chelsea
Founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, Chelsea Physic Garden is one of London's most genuinely romantic settings, and the walled enclosure is a large part of why. The oldest botanic garden in London, it can be hired exclusively for evening weddings, with a marquee option or the Garden Café for dining. The planting is extraordinary in spring and summer, and the high brick walls create a seclusion that makes guests feel they've been let in on a secret.

23. Royal Hospital Chelsea, Chelsea
The Royal Hospital Chelsea is one of those London wedding venues where the history isn't a backdrop, it's the point. Founded by Charles II in 1682 and home to the Chelsea Pensioners, the sense of occasion here is impossible to manufacture elsewhere. Sir Christopher Wren's Figure Court, flanked by the hospital's colonnades, is a beautiful setting for a summer ceremony, while the Great Hall, in daily use by the Pensioners, can be hired for an evening reception.

24. Stanley's, Chelsea
Tucked in the heart of one of London's most coveted neighbourhoods, and just around the corner from The Wedding Present Company's showroom, Stanley's Chelsea is a romantic restaurant and bar that doubles as a surprisingly charming wedding venue. The star of the show is the glass-roofed orangery, which floods with natural light from sunrise to sunset and seats up to 16 for an intimate dinner or 30 for a standing reception. 26. Kindred, Hammersmith
In the heart of West London, Kindred offers something special: a grand, historic setting that feels genuinely alive and full of energy. The Grade II-listed manor has two key spaces, the library and adjoining salon bar for intimate ceremonies, and The Hall, a grand and ornate room at the heart of the building, with a contemporary style that sits beautifully alongside the original features. A dedicated team can help couples plan everything from a cocktail reception to evening entertainment, and as Kindred's own team points out, "the party doesn't have to stop until 2 am" which is rare for a wedding venue in central London.

27. Syon Park, Brentford
Few wedding venues in London stop guests in their tracks quite like Syon Park. The London home of the Duke of Northumberland for over 400 years, Robert Adam designed the State Rooms to create 'a palace of Graeco-Roman splendour', and walking into the Great Hall, with its Doric columns, marble floors and a bronze Dying Gaul commissioned by the 1st Duchess presiding at the top of the steps, you can see exactly what he meant. The Great Conservatory, the first large building in England constructed from glass and cast iron, makes for a reception space that's genuinely hard to follow.

28. Chiswick House & Gardens
There's a particular kind of magic to Chiswick House that's difficult to articulate until you're standing in it. Built in the 1720s by the 3rd Earl of Burlington as a love letter to Palladian architecture, the Grade I listed villa sits within 65 acres of restored gardens, one of the earliest examples of the English landscape style, and manages to feel both grand and genuinely relaxed. Ceremonies in the house, receptions spilling out into grounds dotted with classical temples and cascades: it's the kind of day that feels a world away from London, even though you're very much still in it.

29. Bistroteque, Bethnal Green
Bistroteque is an acclaimed restaurant in a converted clothing factory in the East End and a favourite with foodies for its inventive menu that offers a contemporary twist on the French bistro. The areas that are available for hire are determined by the day of the week, with their most popular slot on a Sunday, on which the action can move from drinks reception in The Cockatoo before moving upstairs to the Bistrotheque Dining Room with the option to move the party downstairs for the evening reception.

30. Wilton’s Music Hall, Tower Bridge
Tucked down an alleyway in the heart of the East End, Wilton's Music Hall is one of the most atmospheric wedding venues in London, and its relative obscurity only adds to the experience. One of the city's few remaining music halls, it has a '20s feel with a Gatsby-inspired cocktail bar, and the venue doesn't charge corkage for drinks brought in by couples or their caterers.

31. The Organ Factory, Deptford
There is something wonderful about getting married in a building that once produced Victorian pipe organs, and the Organ Factory in Deptford leans into its history with confidence. Exposed brickwork, high ceilings and original timber floors give the space a character that no amount of styling could manufacture, and the venue team are skilled at helping couples make it entirely their own. The venue has capacity for larger receptions and is frequently used by couples who want their wedding to feel like a well-curated event rather than a conventional celebration.

32. Round Chapel, Hackney
One of East London's most beautiful and characterful buildings, Round Chapel has a rich history that makes it a genuinely compelling wedding ceremony space. Formerly known as the Clapton Park United Reformed Church, it began as a nonconformist, congregationalist chapel in the 19th century, defined by its cast iron pillars, a controversial choice at the time, when such structures were generally only used for music halls or railways. Nowadays the venue is a thriving arts and community centre, offering a welcoming and impressive space for couples who want something with real soul.

33. Lauderdale House, Camden
Dating back to 1582 and set in the terraced gardens of Waterlow Park, Lauderdale House is a North London wedding venue with genuine community roots, and that gives it a warmth that's difficult to replicate. The venue has its own catering company, Pink Food, which works with couples to design a menu for the day. Lauderdale House houses an arts centre for the local community, which is an extra motivation to book a wedding here, as part of the income from weddings is invested back into educational projects.

35. Kenwood House, Hampstead
Set within the vast and beautiful grounds of Hampstead Heath, Kenwood House is the closest thing London has to a grand country house wedding, and for couples who want that feeling without leaving the city, it's a wonderful choice. The house works with specialist decorators trained to add personal touches while protecting the building's spaces. Hiring a tipi in the grand gardens is also an option for those who want a more relaxed ceremony venue.

London's wedding venue offering spans everything from idyllic natural spots like Walthamstow Wetlands and country-style pubs to iconic city landmarks such as Marylebone Town Hall. For something with a little more surprise, Wilton's Music Hall and Round Chapel in Hackney are venues that genuinely deliver the unexpected. And for those who want a grand, statement celebration, landmark properties like Kenwood House in Hampstead Heath or the historic spaces within Kew Gardens are as classic as it gets.
