Wabi Plate, Seidou

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, this collection celebrates the beauty of imperfection through purity, simplicity, and the expressive nature of craftsmanship. Defined by raw, textured materials and an almost sculptural presence, each piece reflects the culmination of true handcraft. This ceramic dinner plate is made from chamotte stoneware, enriched with crushed fired stoneware for added depth and texture, and finished with Seidou enamel in rich contrasts of deep greens and blacks. Layers of ash glazes are applied by hand using ladle and brush techniques to create uniquely nuanced surfaces. Entirely handmade in Jars' French workshop in the Drome region, the plate is fired at an exceptionally high temperature for outstanding durability, resistance, and a non-porous finish that will not chip. Crafted from natural and sustainable materials, each plate features subtle variations in colour and form, making every piece a singular expression of the magic and alchemy of Grand Feu firing.
