Wabi Plate, Seidou

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, this collection celebrates the beauty of imperfection through purity, simplicity, and expressive craftsmanship. Defined by raw, textured materials and an almost sculptural quality, each piece reflects the culmination of true handcraft. This ceramic dessert plate is made from chamotte stoneware, enriched with crushed fired stoneware to add depth and texture, and finished with Seidou enamel in striking contrasts of deep greens and blacks. Layers of ash glazes are applied by hand using ladle and brush techniques, creating richly nuanced and unique surfaces. Entirely handmade in Jars' French workshop in the Drome region and fired at an exceptionally high temperature, the plate offers outstanding durability, resistance, and a non-porous finish that will not chip. Crafted from natural and sustainable materials, each piece features subtle variations in colour and form, making every plate a singular expression of the magic and alchemy of Grand Feu firing.
