On Set with Tatler

Behind the scenes with Tatler for their 2018 Wedding Special

When the country's poshest magazine announces their annual Wedding Special you don’t hang around to make sure you’re a part of it. So when Tatler approached us and asked us if we’d like take a page in their 2018 Wedding Special, we couldn’t say yes quickly enough.

Some of you may remember our feature in the 2017 Wedding Special; we dragged Jim up from the safety of the Wiltshire countryside, where Tatler photographed and interviewed him in the showroom about why he decided Wedding Presents was the perfect career path for him.

This year we thought we’d let Jim off the hook, and instead packed our bags and travelled across London from Chelsea to Shoreditch with a van full of our favourite presents. Tatler had taken a gorgeous studio in an old railway arch that was to be our home for the day. We arrived full of happiness having heard the wonderful announcement that there was to be an upcoming royal wedding, and proceeded to all google Meghan Markle whilst wildly speculating with the Tatler team about what her wedding to Harry will be like

Speculating aside, we unpacked our vast selection of stunning presents, all either taken directly from our Showroom or kindly lent to us by our wonderful suppliers. We wanted to bring a spectrum of presents, from the classic Le Creuset Coccotte to the absolute showstopper Porta Romana Duck Feet Lamp with Dusky Pink Feather Shade. Somewhere in-between the two we had some of our favourite pieces of china from the likes of Alice Peto and Isabel Fishlocke, an ode to the pineapple thanks to Rosanna Lonsdale’s pineapple lamp and William Yeowood’s crystal Isadora pineapple, and some high-shine metallics thanks to Ercuis elephant place name holders and a dazzling Feu de Beaumont gold candle

Having further speculated about which items Harry and Meghan might choose for their gift list, we got to work styling our set. The concept behind the shoot was simple: showcase our beautiful presents, and emulate the idea of a big pile of presents all neatly boxed up, exactly how they would arrive with you when you take delivery of your presents. Thanks to the help of our incredible stylists and set builders, we had the shot set up in no time and my goodness did it look fabulous. One of the main things we love about doing shoots such as this is that is gives us an opportunity to see presents in a different context. You soon start to realise that actually that particular Pooky lamp looks absolutely glorious with that particular Coach House tray, or that Raynaud china looks wonderful with those Harlequin placemats. It’s a great chance for us to refresh our merchandising of products, ready to showcase them to you in the best possible way back in the showroom.

Shot done and dusted, we packed everything back up and headed back over to Chelsea. We are so pleased with the final image, and we hope you love it too! A huge thank you to the entire Tatler team for their support, creativity and generosity in helping this all come together. As always, it’s a pleasure to work with you! We hope you all enjoy the shoot as much as we do, and that you find the 2018 Tatler Wedding Special as enjoyable and informative as ever.
